Producer Multiplex strike over
At last the strike between Producer distributor forum and Multiplex association of India is over.
So finally movies will start getting released from June 12, with almost three new releases every week.
Sometime i think was there any rift between them or they were just waiting for the IPL to get over even though T20 World cup is ON. Whatever finally we all will be able to see some movies now.
IPL Vs Bollywood
IPL too good for bollywood:
This looks very true by looking at recent trends. No big bollywood movie is getting released in coming months as no one is ready to take the risk.
No doubt cricket is the biggest sport in India and IPL is some thing special.
I am sure once IPL fever is over we can see some good movies getting released. Check ipl calendar 2009 for more details.
EMI should I
Yes before watching the movie i was thinking the same, should i watch EMI and that too at that time when i got some much better options like Dev D and Delhi 6.
But still i did my homework about the movies and managed my time properly to watch all three movies.
Expectations was in this order Delhi 6 > Dev D > EMI and some what result was also the same. Even though none of them was able to impress me except music of delhi 6 which is amazing but still if you have no other option then u can pass or waste your time watching these movies.
DEV d Atyachar
DEV d is just an Atyachar
From the starting itself i couldn’t feel the movie. The movie looks so broken to me that i was not even able to relate it. Dev goes to London and suddenly you find out that there is some kind of Love between him and Paro. To know it i have to think and remember the actual Devdas novel by great Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay then only i was able to understand ..ohh i am watching Devdas…otherwise no chance.
Yeh dil pighla ke saaz bana loon,
dhadkan ko awaz bana loon,
smoking smoking nikle re dhooan.
Tauba Tera Jalwa, Tauba tera pyar,
Tera Emosanal Attyachaar!
Tauba Tera Jalwa, Tauba tera pyar,
Tera Emosanal Attyachaar!
I don’t think so that Dev ever loved Paro .. is this the new generation Dev? Whose love is only for the body not for the soul.
Sorry to say but Anurag Kashyap is not able to make it upto expected standards though he tried to do something different.
Love was supposed to be the theme and i couldn’t feel it. For me it was just an Atyachar
Oye Lucky Lucky Oye
Oye Lucky Lucky Oye O Lucky Oye Oye Lucky Lucky Oye O Lucky Lucky Oye Amazing movie by Dibakar Banerjee who already proved himself with a movie like Khosla Ka Ghosla which gave a big break to Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey. Coming back to Oye Lucky.... what i like most about the movie is they way it is being presented. While watching it you call feel the streets of Delhi, their language and the way normal man lives in Delhi. Once again great direction and superb acting by all and especially by Abhay Deol. A refreshing movie to watch Oye Lucky Lucky Oye O Lucky Oye Oye Lucky Lucky Oye O Lucky Lucky Oye
Dil Kabaddi
Dil ki kabaddi
Recently i saw Dil Kabaddi with lot of expectations after knowing the star cast which includes Irrfan Khan, Rahul Bose, Rahul Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma and Soha Ali Khan in lead roles. Though movie is a directorial debut of Anil Sharma but still expectation were high. After watching Rahul Bose in Shaurya as an army officer i was looking forward to watch him as a professor.
Movie is a mix of comedy (not very good one), emotions (very few scenes) and drama but movie is weak in all of these sections.
Its more about the life of couples living in big cities. Highlighting their problems, relations and thinking.
It is a time pass movie as you keep expecting some thing till end and yes this movie succeeded in showing dil ki kabaddi.

The Pride
Another good, low budget and less famed movie released early this year. Packed with some good actors like Rahul Bose, Kay Kay Menon, Javed Jaffrey and Seema Biswas. A real good work by director Samar Khan after his debut movie Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye which got released in 2005.
The plot of movie is really very interesting where a junior army officer kills his senior officer. Rahul Bose and Javed Jaffrey are lawyers in the Indian Army and stands against each other. Rahul Bose is defending his client Javed Khan and he is helped closely by Minissha Lamba who is a journalist for a news paper in Kashmir valley.
A nice movie to watch.
Dasvidaniya
A wonderful movie.
Lot of people say the movie is inspired by another movie The Bucket List but i am not sure about that. Whatever is the case Dasvidaniya is an amazing movie mixture of some good acting by Vinay Pathak, good direction on debut by Shashant Shah and lovely music by Kailash Kher.
I feel this movie is very close to the lives of a normal common man. Whose heart is full of dreams and ambitions but due to one or other reasons he is not able to follow them and the one who is able to do that is no longer a common man. That what this movie shows how shy Amar Kaul transforms from a normal common man to a unique personality by just doing 10 simple things he dreamed of.
Hope to see some more movies like Dasvidaniya.
